This is how I solve problems (as a business owner)

If being dragged into a bunch of issues before 9.00am is usual in your business, something is broken.

It’s no wonder burnout is so prevalent. No one teaches business owners to create critical infrastructure that can avoid days getting hijacked by ‘putting out fires.’

When we think of business systems, it’s usually things like onboarding processes, communication stacks, financials, client/customer management, and so on. But what about a system around managing the many issues (and ideas) that arise every single day.

The to-do list is a beast that keeps growing and most days you feel like you’ve fallen short, having tackled only 10% of it.

It’s because you need more than a to-do list. You need a central operating system for your issues and ideas

The problems and possibilities that can actually move the business.

Because even with an ambitious vision, an aligned team and happy clients, you still feel stuck.

I’ve been there. I take you through my whole journey here.

I learned it the hard way. If everyone is coming to you for all the answers, you’ve built a business of dependency

Here’s what changed.

The Issues List

We set a system up where we put all of our issues (and ideas) in a central location. Everyone can access it and add to it, and every input is assigned a star to represent its urgency.

We meet every week to review and discuss them, to identify the real issue, then assign an action and person responsible for completion. We loop back the next meeting to ensure it was done.

This has given the team a place to have a voice, strengthened the culture, and reduced the reliance on me to personally address each problem.

Start by taking an honest look at how you currently solve issues. Chances are, if you’re like I was, the ‘system’ is playing offensive. That’s no way to truly lead a business.

Systemise your problem-solving

I want to help you avoid staying stuck for as long as I did. Spending all your precious time putting out fires is a sure way to hinder growth. If you’re not protecting your time to foster your creativity, strategic thinking and high-level connections, you’ll stay in ‘busy’ mode forever.

You’ll have built yourself another job, with all the risk.

Instead, build the systems to support your team and create space in your schedule.

I walk through how to do this tactically, with downloadable resources.
